Arizona Corporation Commission Hearing

This month’s water bill will be in an envelope along with an Arizona Corporation Commission hearing notice. As the notice doesn’t explain what the hearing is about, we decided to supply a brief explanation through the Wilhoit Facebook pages and the Walden Meadows Community Co-op (WMCC) website, waldenmeadows.com.

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) found that the Burro Inn and RV Park’s water quality is not up to State standards. Therefore, the Burro’s owners have asked to become a member of WMCC.

However, the Burro is not in Wilhoit. (It’s on the other side of the cattle guard.) In order to supply water to a customer, the customer’s property must be within the utility’s Certificate of Convenience and Necessity (CCN). So even though we simply plan to install a single meter, WMCC is required to apply for a CCN extension, which includes an ACC hearing and mailing a public notice of the hearing to each of our customers.

If you have any questions after reading the notice (which you will receive next week), please contact WMCC, (928) 442-3473. We’re open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM.
